28.06.2011 Armenia Renewable Energy Roadmap arrangement took place in “Arthur’s” complex ( v. Arzakan, Kotayk marz) in June 25-26, 2011. It was organized by the Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund and Expomedia LLC centre. The Roadmap describes the utilization of technically affordable, economically and financially valuable RE potential for the generation of electrical, thermal and fuel energy, aimed to increase energy independence of the country and assist to solve global environmental problems. The Project involves envisaged targets for short-term, mid-term (2015) and long-term (2020) perspectives: at the same time proposing promoting policy elements, which were thoroughly discussed during the event. This kind of project was developed for the first time in Armenia, where utilization opportunities of all the RE sources were offered comprehensively. Local and foreign specialists took part in the development of the project. The project was financed by The World Bank Grant. RE technological problems, such as construction of “Low capacity plants”, modern electrical transportation means, including problems relating development level of current electro mobile, as well as, wind power network, Solar PV transformation and water heating, biomass, thermal pumps, hydro-accumulating stations, hydrogen plant and other issues were discussed during the event. Many officials from different state entities, NGO-s, financial institutions, as well as scientists, businessmen, experts, investors were invited to participate in the event. Dynamic discussions on the mentioned issues continued during two days. Armenia R2E2 Fund director T. Babayan, WB “Renewable energy project” coordinator A.Marjanyan, A. Hambaryan from the American University of Armenia, the president of Small hydro Power Assosiation N. Nahapetyan, officials from the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the RA and scientists, experts had speeches and presentations during the event.
