\nIn a year Armenia will have solar map, which will bring its contribution and support to solar\u00a0energy development in the country. \u00a0\u201cFor the preparation of the map, we will start the\u00a0implementation of solar radiation monitoring and measurements in January and February. The\u00a0final map will be ready in a year.\u00a0The locations will be selected according to their higher\u00a0potential of resources for electricity generation and stations will be built. This should also allow\u00a0the preparation of certain business investment project and after having all the information, the\u00a0investors can determine what stations, what tariffs and what investments to make\u201d,-says\u00a0director of Renewable resources and energy efficiency fund Tamara Babayan in her interview\u00a0with Ecolur.\u00a0According to her, the preliminary data of the best locations for solar energy development is in\u00a0Gegharkunik, Syunik and Shirak regions. \u201cThe colder is the temperature, the better those\u00a0stations run. The sun radiation is higher\/stronger in a higher locations, where the air is clean\u00a0and the lighting penetration is high. For example, the air is dusty\/polluted in Yerevan, and that\u00a0dust somehow troubles. If the air is polluted, the sunrays do not reach the surface fully. But the\u00a0sun is not the issue in this case. The appropriate location, area and infrastructure should be\u00a0provided\u201d, \u2013 said Tamara Babayan.\u00a0The development of the solar map will be implemented in the scope of the grant for 40 million\u00a0USD within \u201cScaling up Renewable Energy\u201d project of Climate Investment Fund. This money will\u00a0be given to promote the development of solar energy: solar plants, solar water heaters and\u00a0thermal pumps are expected to have up to 50MW capacity.
